PoW! 29th Week

We have skipped a week of PoW because of the preparation for the FPC's 1st Anniversary Party held last May 19, 2007 at Town and Country Gardenville, Congressional Ave. QC. Check out the outcome of the party Here.

We're back!

Here are this week's FPC's PoW!s, in no order of preference:

Canon EOS 400D Digital, 20 sec (20), f/14, 10mm, ISO200

Editor's Comment: This one of the much photographed Enchanted Kingdom amusement rides packs a definite PoW! punch and simple knocks your jaw to the ground! The peripheral lights caused by the onboard gondola lights (and some specks on the lens?) add interestingness to the overall good composition, which was made possible with a wide angle lens.

Canon EOS 350D Digital, 1/640, f/5.6, 55mm, ISO800

Photographers Description: I am a Filipino but a lot of people have mistaken me for Indonesian, probably because not only do I look Indonesian (yes, we Malays resemble each other) but I speak the language as well. Having been visiting Indonesia for almost 14 years now, I feel at home in archipelago which is so much like the Philippines in so many respects. Heck, I even got married in Indonesia but to a Filipina of course. In embracing another world's culture, one keeps coming back to your own.a boat detail that looks like the Philippine flag in Geger Beach, Bali, Indonesia

Editor's Comment: The first time I saw the thumbnail of this photo in the FPC pool, my first thought was that this looks like the Philippine flag. When I clicked on it and saw the photo page and learned that that was Farl's exact description why he took this photo, it made me smile. It only shows how effective this photo is in conveying a message. Beyond technical excellence and bright colors, its effectiveness is what makes it a winner.

Photographers Description: Melvin James own an antique shop in Cubao Expo.
Editor's Comment: I like the detail and light and color mood in this image -- a shopkeeper and his wares, a guy who hopefully truly loves his work. So many details here, from the knick knacks he sells to his reflection on his clean tabletop.
